Get me out of hereA Settlement Survives
Trouble on the frontier! Last year, in 576, rumors spoke of tensions in settlements, disturbances near the border of the forest, and whispers of something stirring deeper among the trees. The trail of strange clues led from the City of Highfolk, to settlements in the Highvale, to the outer fringes of the great ancient High Forest, the Vesve. Therein, the new experimental settlement of Flameflower found itself facing a threat far beyond anything seen before. But determination and heroism by a brave few won out, preventing a tragedy and turning back forces that could have erased Flameflower from the map.
A Mystery Unfurls
Since then, even as the “Corrupted Bloom” expanded and nature itself revolted, courage has taken shape as Highfolk has taken action. In Flameflower, under the leadership of Kashafen Tamarel, a new faction has emerged: Talla Firaen, the Banner of Flame, dedicated to defending their settlement and other fragile pinpoints of civilization within the primeval forest. They are met in uneasy partnership by other factions:
- The Shepherds of the Vesve, based out of Quaalsten,
- Roving sylvan elf leaders, such as Donnodel of Clan Ravanaer,
- Representatives of the secretive druidic circles, and
- Mayor Talisyr of the City of Highfolk.
These factions have tasked brave adventurers with quests across the High Forest to learn more about this Bloom and the enemy behind it—before it is too late.
The Frontier Awaits!
Over the coming months these quests will have you traveling the lengths of the Vesve. You will visit three strange regions, hand-picked by Highfolk’s leaders. [*Record Scratch* Well, actually: they were selected by committed players at the Weekend in Highfolk 2025 who completed all three adventures during the event, and were given the “folks’ choice” opportunity to select where the story would venture next.] Will you trust in their leadership and hope these quest destinations offer salvation for Highfolk? Or will you lay the blame at their feet, along with the bodies of heroes dying there? Only time – and playing the adventures at Baldman Games’ Virtual D&D Weekends – will tell!
