Realms of Ferrond
Regional Mechanic: Banners

Banners are a role-playing mechanic available in adventures in Old Ferrond, designed to capture the feel of the chivalric setting.
At the start of each adventure, the player has the option to assign a Banner for their character. A Banner is a short descriptor that reveals something about the character, such as their origins, accomplishments, or organizations.

Starting Banner

LoG-Seperator-1-1

Every character begins with one Banner tied to their homeland. This starting Banner is written as “of <name of homeland>“, such as: “of Veluna” or “of Furyondy.” If a player isn’t sure about your character’s homeland or prefer a more neutral option, they can use “of the Domain of Greyhawk” as the starting Banner.

Winning Banners

LoG-Seperator-1-1

A character can win new Banners by receiving Marks of Prestige in adventures set in Old Ferrond.

Using Banners

LoG-Seperator-1-1
A Banner can impact how the character is received by NPCs in future adventures. It may give Advantage on social ability checks at the discretion of the DM. Adventures may include options that are unlocked by a particular Banner.
